We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Science Teacher to join our highly academic independent school community. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching AP Environmental Science and Biological Sciences, with a demonstrated ability to engage students in rigorous, inquiry-driven coursework.
This position calls for an educator who is committed to fostering deep scientific understanding through hands-on, student-centered learning. Experience with project-based learning and the integration of engineering or design principles into the science classroom is highly desired. The successful candidate will be comfortable guiding students through complex problem-solving, collaborative work, and real-world applications of scientific concepts.
Fairmont Preparatory Academy serves a large, diverse, and international student population. Key Responsibilities:
- Teach AP Environmental Science and Biological Science courses at a high level of rigor
- Design and implement engaging, inquiry-based, and project-based curriculum
- Integrate engineering or design thinking where appropriate
- Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative methods
- Support and mentor students in their academic growth
- Collaborate with colleagues to support program development and interdisciplinary opportunities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field; advanced degree preferred
- Experience teaching AP Environmental Science and Biological Sciences
- Demonstrated success with project-based learning; engineering experience preferred
- Commitment to working with a diverse and international student population
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Teaching in additional science backgrounds is favorably considered
